When governor kay ivey announced expanding the order she admitted it was not because the number of positive cases is down, but because the economy is in a free-fall.

Waze sydney martin is live at huntsville city hall this afternoon.

>> commissioner dale strong told me he believes it's time to reopen the state.

He agrees with the governor.

Strong believes his comfortable because businesses had had nearly two months to come up with plans to safely operate and abide by health guidelines.

Strong also said people travel from 17 different counties to work on redstone arsenal and dr. karen h the alabama department of public health said even though the virus isn't gone people need to go back to work to make money.

>> dr. landers: persons need to take all the mae measures theyn and take personal responsibility to reduce the spread of covid-19.

But i also have to understand as a physician people have to work.

They have to make a living.

They have to be able to provide for their families and loved ones.

>> all public leaders agreed if you are in a high risk group you should be aware of factors and even though businesses are open, still stay home for your safety.

Landers told me today just because the state is reopening it doesn't mean you can let your guard down.
