While sanitizing is important, is it necessary to wear a mask during a workout?

News 10 reached out to the experts, to answer that question.

Most gyms are re-opening their doors with restrictions.

That includes spacing equipment..

Sanitizing..

And wearing masks.

But are they necessary for your workout?

News 10's jordan kudisch got the answer from experts... she's in our newsroom with what she learned.

The answer is both yes and no.

And i'm going to break down exactly what a physical therapist explained to me.

The c-d-c recommends that you wear a mask..

Everytime you're out in public..

Especially in places where it's "hard" to be sociall distant.

This includes gyms. but based off the therapist i spoke with..

It all depends on "your" preference.

If you have pre-exisitng conditions..

Or you're older..

It's highly recommended..

But if you're healthy and in shape..

Again it's your choice.

And if you're wondering..

While it may get in the way a bit..

It is "not" harmful to wear a mask while exercising.

However..

It is different than "your" normal..

And "experts" say there are things you should watch out for.

""any individual that's watchin their heart, try to monitor thei heart rate if they can, their breathing and definetely if you're feeling dizzy or getting too hot or you feel like you're heart is beating too fast something like that, you need to stop what you're doing."
