And the officer's use of force.

We want to check in with waay 31's sydney martin now.

She's live in madison county this afternoon after working to learn more from the video of officers restraining floyd in minneapolis.

Dan,najahe- i'm still working to receive responses from the huntsville police department and the madison county sheriff's office on what is seen in the video of george floyd being restrained by an officer in minnesota.

But today i talked to a retired deputy who is the local fraternal order of police president, donny shaw.

Shaw spent about 30 years in law enforcement before retiring last year.

He told me was a defensive tactics instructor for many years..

And the move seen in that video is something he doesn't think should ever be taught anywhere- and is something he hasn't taught.

"anything that applies pressure to the trachea or to the windpipe is not taught in alabama, is not taught locally.

That position you see in photos and in the video is not anything that should be taught at any law enforcement agency."

Shaw told me pressure point and control techniques are taught in alabama.

Shaw explained there are two different techniques- neither puts pressure on the trachea or windpipe.

Shaw told me the officers involved in what happened in minneapolis have discredited and harmed other law enforcement by their actions and what happened was not okay.
