Waay 31 is tracking another breaking news story in huntsville.

You can see barriers are in place outside of the madison county courthouse.

It closed early - at 3 p-m.

After seeing social media posts about a protest - waay 31 reached out to police and the city government.

Both of them told us they weren't aware of any permits for a protest tonight.

But we're now less than an hour away from when that event is scheduled to start.

Waay 31's casey albritton joins us from downtown huntsville now.

Casey - walk us through what you know, - huntsville fire and rescue have been out here for the last half hour filling up barricades in front of the courthouse with water- just incase the protest escalates tonight.

- madison county sheriffs officers are arriving as im speaking - on social media, the protest is called a peaceful protest, but the city officials say they will be keeping an eye on the downtown area.

- the city also told me as long as the protest is peaceful and doesnt break any laws, protestors have a right to come together... we're about an hour away from the scheduled protest start time... ill bring you more updates throughout the evening.
