Protesters have been calling for action in the wake of george floyd's death at the hands of former minneapolis police officers.

Now the city of rochester is working on reforming police department policies kimt new three's jessica bringe joins us live from the government center with how the city is working towards change.

Currently a police policy oversight commission is looking into the rochester police department policies.

Mayor kim norton signed a national pledge helping to hold departments accountable with community input.

There are three policies the committee is beginning to review this month: policy 300 looks at the use of force.

Policy 302 focuses on handcuffing and restraint and policy 320 is standards of conduct.

Norton plans to have the committee review all 170 police policies.

The pledge asks mayors to report the findings of the review back to the community for feedback and from there to reform the use of force policies.
