But it's been happening in ways we don't even realize for much longer than that.

Kimt news 3's maleeha kamal is finding out how that's true for an area college as well.xxx on the scene look live: i spoke to the president of riverland community college.

He tells me when covid 19 hit his college had to transition to distance learning... some students weren't able to make the change because they didn't have the technology like a computer to learn and this is a form of systematic racism that people might not be aware of.

He says systematic racism comes in many forms. one of those is the way classes are set up... distance learning is a good example ?

"* because of the barriers it can create.

A lack of black educators is another form.... but when it comes down to it ?*- systematic racism can be hard to identify.

He says while george floyds death has shed light on the issues... his college has been working to break down the barrier down for a long time.

He shares how he envisions tackling it moving forward.

"so some of those things are because of the system and we have to make sure that we give the opportunities to all.we are very interested in improving our awareness and educating our own facility staff and students so we have some training on conscious bias."

All around the country, statues and momuments deemed insensitive are being taken down.
