House party leads to new COVID-19 cases in Lane County

About 20 people attended the party.

Now to that cluster of cases in lane county..

It was a group of teens in a group..

And that's raising questions on how and if we should be getting together this summer.

Kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome joins us live with some advice from the experts.

5 teens testing positive -- not even a week after another group of about the same size, in their 20's... tested positive..

It's a troubling trend... but some doctors are saying little pop ups like this are bound to happen with summer kicking off -- and the state opening up .

He says the oha tracks the way covid spreads and has noticed it can be sporadic, spread in clusters like the outbreak in lincoln county... spread in your home.

Or the way the teenagers got it... by being near each other, for long enough to transmit the virus.

He says there are ways to mitigate the spread especially as the summer months draw people together... and he says there's not a ton of data to support the heat will ward off this virus.

Dr bob pelz: " if you're singing or shouting -- if you've got a mask on or don't... these things kind of influence what the risk would be ... but if you're having a quiet conversation the risks are lower... if you're six feet apart or if you're outdoors the risks are lower as well.

He says if you are hosting an out of state wedding, asking people to get tested for coronavirus might be smart.
