"in the last 24 hours, i've been called a coward due to the fact, in my belief, that people have suggested to my constituents that i don't have a backbone because of a stance that i'm taking.

So i'm here.

I'm here at the well, backbone in place, standing as strong as i can under this dome.

((applause)) "my statement wasn't even directed at the individuals who are for or against the present flag in general.

I was directing the statement at a lack of opinions."

At the moment, there's no indication if or when the legislature will formally consider a flag change.

However, lawmakers reportedly will now work into the weekend instead of adjourning the 20-20 session today.
