Chelsea: after three months of an indefinite closure the baseball hall of fame is re-opening its doors to the public putting cooperstown back in business.

Vincent russo: well, everybody has been waiting for this day for when the hall would re- open.

I mean they as i said are the reason we got the visitor shit that we do.

Yeah we have a beautiful lake and grand hotel and other museums but the hall of fame is the anchor tenant of cooperstown's main street.

Just two months ago, main street in cooperstown was filled with closed businesses and sidewalks were quiet.

Today, patrons took to the village streets with some businesses reopening their doors.

Vincent russo: well we reopened on the actual afternoon that the governor gave us permission to open.

We were able to do mail order relying upon the internet and our website to get whatever business we had available to us.

The baseball hall of fame opening its doors again in phase four of the mohawk valley's reopening plan, brings more foot traffic to the area for baseball fans and local business owners.

Jon shestakovsky: it's not our typical summer of visitation, so hoping that some people will start to filter back in and i will make a positive impact on accommodations, restaurants and shops, all the baseball shops you see on main street.

Vincent russo:absolutely excited because you know no one comes here to cooperstown to see me, even my family.

You know they come here to go visit the hall of fame so this sort of adds a much needed dimension to our overall visitor ship once the hall is not open.

The town is sort of back in business.
