Of july weekend... many families will be out and about celebrating... but there's one part of the festivities... that has health officials concerned... kq2's danielle soxy brings us the story... a day of celebrating, spending time with family, and shooting off fireworks can also result in making a visit to the hospital...colten, border war fireworks"yeah safety is a big thing with us.

With many firework displays being cancelled this 4th of july,firework sales are breaking the bank unlike anything beforecolten, "we've been in business for 9 years and i've been here all 9 years.

I've never seen such exciment for fireworks in a year.

People are just coming out here like crazy."families have been cooped up for almost three months now..and are ready to get out and celebrate america's independence,leaving doctors extremely concerned for what could be a major spike in injuries holiday...ku medical: "this is what worries me.

There will be many more families doing, lighting fireworks; some of them non- experienced.

Add to that, parents enjoying their own time not being able to keep eye on the kids.

They are kinda all the way in, they don't know control.

Either a child who is turning to the side and getting someone else burnt or the one who is holding and suddenly makes a movement to the face and then all the sparks are in the face."with concerns for children's safety...store owners have found a way to safely light off sparklers so kids can still enjoy a popular firework colten: "we always recommend like for kids wire sparklers are a big thing.

So if you poke a whole in the bottom of a red solo cup and stick the sparkler up through there, it protects there hands from it."
