Cooling stations open in Utica, Rome

Oneida County set up two cooling stations on Thursday, for what was the hottest day of the year so far.

People to get out of he heat if they need to.

They are at the utica train station...and at mvcc in rome.

Health experts say avoid strenuous outside activity in the heat.

Make sure you stay hydrated, and not with caffeinated beverages, which could dehydrate you.

Seek medical attention if you become disoriented, shaky, confused, and unstable when you walk.

And, if your heart starts beating too strenuously.

Also...keep your pets in the cool.

Most of those traditional cooling centers, like senior centers, are closed because of the coronavirus.

But oneida county has opened these two cooling stations from 8-to-4 today.

Masks must be worn and social distancing practiced.
