Restaurants are continuing to operate differently during the coronavirus pandemic.

One locally-owned burger restaurant shared how it is handling its business during the pandemic.

Includes places that have stayed open for decades.

W-t-v-a's bronson woodruff talked with the owner of a locally- owned burger restaurant about how it's going.

I'm here at bill's hamburgers in amory where the manager told me while the ongoing pandemic may have hurt his bottom line, people's love for delicious, greasy burgers still lives.

Take pkg: nat pop of sizzling grease.

"bill's hamburgers, you come here for the atmosphere, you come for a good, greasy hamburger, a glass-bottle coke sitting on a barstool and spinning around."

But general manager james wilkerson said with the coronavirus, no one is experiencing the atmosphere.

"we're not letting any customers into the building to cut down on the chance of anything being contaminated."

He added employees dress the burgers now, and condiments are pre-packaged.

"we're germ-xing and washing our hands and wearing our masks, and sanitizing surfaces, so , i think we're taking about every step we possibly can to ensure the safety of our customers and employees and the safety of their families."

Assistant manager brittany wilkerson said the restaurant closed for about 5 weeks when the pandemic first hit back in march.

She said business took a big blow when the dining rooms closed.

As for now?

"i feel like we're hanging in there, we're trying to stay afloat.

I mean we've been here since 1929, so we have to, you know?"

Reporter outro: wilkerson said curbside pickup is the only option right now.

Customers can come up to the door rig here and place their order or they can call ahead, and someone will run it out to them.

Reporting in amory, bronson woodruff for w-t-v-a 9 news.

" to my fellow mississippians, i urge you to make no mistake, we are in the middle of a spike today."
