Voter turnout in North Alabama
Voter turnout in North Alabama
Of that.
Voters across north alabama traveled to the polls to let their voices be heard -- despite coronavirus.
Waay31's megan reyna joins us live in huntsville to see how this pandemic affected voter turnout?
The voter turnout for today's election was expected to be low -- mainly because of this pandemic.
In fact more than 43- thousand people in alabama requested absentee ballots ahead of today's election to avoid having to vote in-person.
The secretary of state told me he expected the voter turnout statewide to be 10 to 15 percent today.
We don't have the total percentage tonight state- wide.
But in madison county -- that rate was 13 percent.... with 40 thousand voters turning out to the polls.
Morgan county -- saw a lot higher percentage at 19 .
In sand mountain -- jackson county to be specific -- turnout was about 17 percent tonight.
And in the shoals -- in lauderdale county -- more than 12-thousand voters cast a ballot.
That's about 18 percent.
It seems aside from madison county -- the voter turnout was higher than what the secretary of state predicted.
