DOZENS OF PEOPLE CAME OUT THISMORNING TO ASK COLLIER COUNTYCOMMISSIONERS TO DEFUND THESHERIFF’S OFFICE.FUNDING FOR THE SHERIFF’S OFFICEWAS NOT ON THE COMMISSIONER’SAGENDA AT THEIR MEETING.BUT DEMONSTRATORS WITH BLACKLIVES MATTER SAID THEY WANTEDMAKE A POINT THAT THE MARCHES WESAW IN NAPLES LAST MONTH WEREN’TTHE END OF THEIR ACTIVISM.THE GROUP GATHERED OUTSIDE THEGOVERNMENT BUILDING, AND EACHONE SIGNED UP TO SPEAK TO THEBOARD DURING PUBLIC COMMENT.SOME PEOPLE ALSO CAME OUT TOCOUNTER THAT MESSAGE OFDEFUNDING."A lot of money goes to thepolice, and we hope that, if wecan kind of spread the wealthtoward different areas, it couldhelp things in a social manner,like society in general.""We are not a country withoutour military and police.
