Nationalist Congress Party workers staged protest against BJP MLC Gopichand Padalkar's statement on Sharad Pawar. NCP party workers slapped his posters with slippers and shoes and later burnt it. The protest spiked after Padalkar said that Sharad Pawar is like 'coronavirus' that has infected Maharashtra.
BJP leaders including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, BJP National Vice President Uma Bharti arrived at Ram Temple ahead of foundation stone laying ceremony. Sadhvi Rithambara and Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev were also seen at the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other dignitaries will also attend the grand ceremony.

Speaking on the foundation laying ceremony, Bharti said BJP does not have a “patent” on lord Ram. Congress leader Digvijaya Singh thanked Bharti on Twitter. Bharti will be skipping the bhoomi pujan event in Ayodhya on August 5. Bharti to skip the event in view of coronavirus spread. The leader will be at Saryu River bank during the event.

Ram Temple trust head, Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, has tested positive for Covid-19. Das is the chief of Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust. 80-year-old Das is currently in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken detailed information on the health condition of Das. He has spoken to Mathura DM and Dr Trehan of Medanta hospital. Adityanath has also requested for immediate medical attention to Das at the facility. Das had recently shared dais with PM Modi and other VIPs at Ram Temple's groundbreaking ceremony. He was among the people on the stage at the ceremony in Ayodhya on August 5. Other VIPs included CM Adityanath, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. PM Modi had participated in bhoomi pujan and laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple. The construction of Ram Temple, which is being overseen by Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, has begun nine months after the Supreme Court verdict.

Congress leader Sachin Pilot met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot at his residence for the Congress Legislature Party meet. This was the first time the two leaders came face to face after a month-long freeze in ties following Pilot's rebellion against the state government. Several other Congress MLAs also arrived at Gehlot's residence to attend the meeting which has been scheduled a day ahead of the special session of the Rajasthan Assembly on Friday. Earlier in the day, Gehlot said whatever misunderstanding occurred within the Congress party in the last one month, needs to be forgiven and forgotten. Last month, Pilot was removed as Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and the state Congress chief after he led a rebellion against the Gehlot led government. The reconciliation came after Pilot met Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi earlier in the week. Meanwhile, BJP also held a legislature party meeting which was also attended by former CM Vasundhara Raje.
