Eugene police officer accused of sexual assault

We are hearing more tonight from an alleged victim of sexual assault --- who says her assailant was a eugene police officer.

It's an accusation that triggered a violent protest outside epd headquarters last wednesday.

Kezi nine news reporter connor mccarthy spoke with the woman in downtown eugene this afternoon... and is live in the studio to share with us what happeneed.

Matt and renee-- jamie clark says the sexual assault happened three days after police came to her home on a domestic violence call.

She says she and the officer exchanged personal text messages days after.

According to clark... on may 27th... the officer came to her house... and that's when assualt took place.

Eugene police became aware of the allegations the following day and put the officer on administrative leave.

E-p-d asked salem police detectives to investigate and the information they found was given to the lane county district attorney's office.

On june 10th... the officer resigned.

Clark says she didn't hear anything from e-p-d and only found out the officer resigned through salem police.

I told them when i was out there cops are isolating themselves by protecting bad cops and they're making it to where they're the only ones want to be around themselves in an echo chamber, they're going to have to be by themselves.

Now this incident also triggered demonstrations outside e-p-d headquarters... that turned into a riot.

Five people were arrested after the outisde of the building was vandalized.

Matt and renee-- i did reach out to lane county district attorney patty perlow to see where the investigation stands... but i have not heard back at this time.

Also... kezi does know the name of the officer in question but we are not going to name him because he has not been arrested or charged with a crime.
