For today... we've got an update now on how kentucky state police did in that national 'best looking cruiser' competition.

It was a close one... between us and georgia... but ultimately k-s-p came in second.

Of state troopers georgia state police k ... georgia securing the bragging rights this year...with almost 52-thousand votes.

K-s-p had about 48- thousand 500 votes.

As one of the top 12 finishers this year...this photo of a k-s-p cruiser in greenup county will be featured on the american association of state trooper's 2021 calendar.

Benefiting special olympics kentucky.

During the last week of july, k-s-p posts across the state will have cruisers parked at designated locations.

That includes places like gas stations and grocery stores... where they're encouraging the public to cover their cruisers with custom special olympics kentucky stickers.

For a minimum donation of one dollar... which goes directly to the non-profit... you can purchase those stickers at the designated locations and then place them on the troopers cruiser.

A lexington mom and her two year old daughter got a big surprise friday.

Joanna and two year old annelise were doing a mommy daughter photoshoot at the kentucky castle... then... dad...nate lauby surprised them.

Lauby is a staff segeant with the army reserves military police.

He has been deployed for more than a year... he was scheduled to come back in may but coronavirus pushed that back to the middle of august.

But as you just saw in this touching moment..

He was able to get back to his girls a little bit early.

### a dramatic rescue monday... when a man was saved from a burning boat on lake tahoe.

And it was caught on camera.

A 43-year-old man was on the lake when his boat somehow caught fire.

Not only that... it reportedly had about 40 gallons of fuel on board.

Another boater saw the man needed help... and was able to get him off the burning boat.

The coast guard arrived a short time later.

A fire crew was able to get the fire out before the vessel sank in 21 feet of water.

The man was taken to a local hospital... but had no reported injuries.
