"* what's really cool about this s the fact that it was an idea before the pandemic ever hit.

A new fee structure has been implimented for those taking part in tiger activities from this point forward.xxx you know in the large picture ?

"* the grand scheme of things it's a small fraction of the cost that it takes to put these activities on and you know if we tried to cover all activities with our registration fees it wouldn't be reasonable.

Albert lea area schools is looking for a way to make activities more affordable for families... activities director ?

You know as a school district we've been looking at how we can reduce fees in general.

Our superintenden t had a great idea of moving toward a zero fees activity system.

Durbahn says this new structure is a step in the right direction.

A high school fee is 150 dollars... middle school is 75... and the high school fine art fee is 50 bucks.

But what about for those families who can't afford that> this si the great part about it.

No questions asked, they can pay waht they can afford.

So they can enter any amount, say it's 25 dollars, they can participate for 25 dollars.

If they can't afford anything at all, we have a zero fee option so they can select the zero dollars.

The district realizes this is just one of the many ways to begin breaking down barriers to allow more kids to be involved.

You know it's not really realistic for us to be asking for more kids to participate, more multiisport athletes, trying to get more kids involved and we're all aware activities are good for our kids and they tie really well into their education, but if we put a barrier up in front of them (?
