Reeves said partying is also contributing to the spread.

Mississippi now has 29 total counties out of 82 that have coronavirus mask and crowd-gathering mandates.

Calhoun county is one of the six just added.

Kim gregory is a resident of bruce.

She said she thinks the county's regulations are a good thing.

"oh definitely, because in calhoun county, we were at about fifty cases for weeks and weeks, and now, it's over three hundred.

The whole state has gone up so much."

She said she's been taking precautions before now.

"i have elderly parents, they're both 81, and i'm their primary caregiver."

"i've been very diligent about it, wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer, just trying to keep them safe.

She wears a mask regularly.

"i know not everybody wants to wear one, but i don't have a problem doing it."

Another man in calhoun county said he feels the same way.

Glenn nix is a welder.

He said people have to wear masks before they can come inside his workplace.

"a silent disease, that you know, you can't do much about, you can just do the, what precautions you can do, and that's it."

As far as further restrictions slowing the virus spread, - "you really don't know until you try."

Another calhoun count resident is lynn hubbard, a produce manager at piggly wiggly.

She said masks are not preferrable, but necessary.

"i don't like it, it's hot, and it's hard to breathe, but it's something we have to do to keep ourselves safe."

Reporter outro: gregory said wearing a mask makes her feel like she is protecting herself and those around her.
