Getting a new boat.

New at six... this week... the city of pine island passed a welcoming resolution declaring residents from all walks of life are welcome.

It declares the community will strive to be free of discrimination..

.

Hatred and violence.

But one resident says the city still has a long way to go.

Kimt news 3's isabella basco joins us live there now.

Isabella?

Well ?

"* three black lives matter protests have happened here so far ?

"* and one residet expects they will continue.

Alice is kopp is actively involved in the protests.

Kopp says it's important to start a conversation on this movement.

Kopp wants the demonstration s to push people to think and talk about racism "before we started protesting it seemed like people didn't really talk about it or there were a handful of people who were on the down low, not necessarily as open and vocal."

I did reach out to several councilmember s and the mayor ?

"* they all declined to talk to me about the welcoming resolution.

Live in pine thanks, isabella.

On august 1 ?

"* pine island against racism will be hosting a drive for community members to find information on needs including healthcare... mental health and education.
