State wide.... who say this is not the time for the state to be late with payments.

Newschannel 2's joleen ferris reports.

For many not for profits, the number of people they help has increased, due to the coronavirus.

And a recent executive order in new york state has compounded their worry..... .

None .

None 1:02:10 "the governor recently at the beginning of this month rescinded that law and it's got the not for profit world very nervous" 1:25:07 "the governor's executive order suspends prompt payments to not for profits and so it makes it difficult for us to respond to people who are hurting and in need right now" 1.3 million people work in new york's not for profit sector.

The number of those the serve, exponentially higher.

But nys executive order 202.48 has not for profits concerned about their ability to be there for those who need them, if the order isn't rescinded 1:25:23 "we have not received payments on one of our contracts since february" 1:25:33 "there's 11% unemployment rate right now in oneida county and people need help getting back to work and we can't do that if we don't have money to operate" so more than 700 not for profits in the state have signed their names to a letter, asking governor cuomo to rescind executive order 202.48.

Because it couldn't have come at a worse time 1:24:43 "and it's also during a time when many non profits cannot fundraise effectively.

And those are the funds that we use to bridge the gaps in our state funding" coming up new at six, the ceo of insight house tells us how the executive order could spell trouble for those the serve, down the road.
