Coronavirus after receiving an increase in complaints about rochester parks..

The city is reminding the community how to get involved in improving them.

Kimt new three's jessica bringe joins us live with why the city says there's been an uptick in criticism..

However as a result of the pandemic there was a decrease in city parks and recreation maintenance funds.

That decrease is leading to an increase in complaints from the community.

Norton says two main complaints have to do with dog walkers not properly disposing of their pets waste as well as concerns over the bacteria in cascade lake.

She says if community members have any issues with their area parks the best thing to do is to connect with their rochester park board ward representative <a smart thing to do ?

"* those ward reps represent them just like their city council ward rep represents them on city council issues.

The city council does provide the budget for the parks department but it's actually those park board reps that set the agenda for our parks and recreation department.> norton also says the city is planning on using around 750?

"*thousand dollars of care's act funding to hire employees as part of the concervation core effort to keep city parks clean.

It's located at the apache mall.

"* this morning families were able to walk through these doors into the interactive environment of "spark."

Given the pandemic, safety measures are in place including limiting attendance to 50 people at a time ?

I'm also told spark will also close for an hour at noon everyday they're open for cleaning.

Employees spray down every surface... giving parents peace of mind that this is a ?

"(safe place to brig your kids.xxx i was actually really concerned with my kids and how they'll be able to play with the masks on, but they haven't complained once.

They're totally engaged with playing and they don't seem to even notice let us take the responsibility on making sure we're doing everything that we can do to make this as most enjoyable experience possible as well as the safest one possible too.
