Amid China tension, India & Japan talk business as Delhi seeks investments

Union minister Piyush Goyal spoke at the Invest India Exclusive Investment Forum - Japan Edition on Thursday, seeking to boost trade ties between Delhi and Tokyo.

He said that together, the two nations can overcome any adversity and be successful in geopolitical, strategic, trade and business, and people-to-people ventures.

Japan is one of India's most-trusted and important trade partners, he added, stating that the former is the fourth-largest contributor to FDI in the latter.

The latest trade push came amid persisting tension between Delhi and Beijing.

As China remains aggressive along the Line of Actual Control, the Indian government is pursuing its 'atmanirbhar' or self-reliance goal.

Multiple decisions taken recently by the Narendra Modi administration have been seen to be targeted at China.

These include the banning of applications like TikTok, and tightening foreign direct investment and government contract bidding rules.

New See-Through Public Toilets In Tokyo Let People See How Clean They Are Before Entering

Two new see-through public toilets have opened in Tokyo enabling users to check how clean they are before entering. Designed by Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, the stalls are part of a project organised by the nonprofit Nippon Foundation, titled 'The Tokyo Toilet'. The project asked artists to redesign 17 public bathrooms throughout the district of Shibuya in the hopes of making them more accessible and appealing. Located inside the city’s Yo Yogi Fukamachi Mini Park and the Haruno Ogawa Community Park the public conveniences have been designed with cleanliness and security in mind. Although the thought of the toilet's being see-through sounds off-putting these particular restrooms are made from “smart glass” that turns opaque when the bathroom is locked and occupied.

Babri demolition verdict tomorrow: D-day for Advani & 31 others l Key details

A special CBI court is set to pronounce the verdict in the criminal case related to the demolition of the Babri mosque on 30th September. BJP stalwarts LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh and Uma Bharti are among the 32 accused in the case. Ram Temple Trust chairman Nritya Gopal Das and general secretary Champat Rai are also among the accused in the case. The verdict in the criminal case relating to the demolition comes months after PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. This after a Supreme Court verdict in November 2019 had ordered that the disputed site in Ayodhya be given to the Hindu site for construction of a temple and had asked the government to provide an alternative site to the Muslim side for building a mosque. The Supreme Court had however called the demolition illegal. In April 2017, the top court had asked the special court to conduct day-to-day hearings and complete the trial within two years. The court was also given extensions and when the special judge sought more time the deadline had been extended to 30th September. Watch the full video for all the details.
