Thousands of people were without power after Monday night's storms... some still waiting to be restored.

Thousands of people were without power after monday night's storms... some still waiting to be restored.some neighborhoods throughout fort wayne were knocked out all at the same time last night because of high winds causing indiana michigan power to work well into today.fox 55' s jentill neal went to one of those neighborhoods near covington road and talked to indiana michigan power about their restoration plans.

Jentill?hunter, at it's peak, 50,000 customers were without power.

As of 10 minutes ago the website says 1,300 outages remain.here's what they're doing to get everyone restored.

People in this subdivision were waiting until this afternoon for their power to come on after monday night's storms- however it took longer than sean goddard expected.> 06:34:19-06:34:34"about 7:30 the power just went out and they updated on the website saying we'd have power by 12:30.

After 12:30 there was no update and this morning so it's going on 24 hours now."

He says he lost $500 in groceries to get rid of what he couldn't save in the fridge, but another neighbor was determined to make it work.

This morning we kept everything closed.

This afternoon when i came back, i thought if it wasn't on and still off we were going to get ice to start packing the refrigerator with ice."

Tracy warner with indiana michigan power says about 80 percent of customers have their power restored.

Some of the fort wayne area and northeast indiana, could be waiting as late as 11pm on thursday until they're restored.they'll have crews out working around the clock through tomorrow and thursday.> 06:39:39-06:39:55"yesterday afternoon i&m began planning on how to restore power after this storm hit.

We marshalled over 900 people from our own employ ranks as well as contractors power companies that are working throughout our territory."

Warner says all of their service territory was impacted and they're asking for patience at this time.06:38:52-06:39:05"it was moving across a good part of indiana, southern michigan.

Pretty much all of indiana michigan power was affected and a total of 50,000 customers were without power."

Warner says to remember some traffic lights are out in some areas.

Treat them like are four way stops and to be aware when going around trees because branches can fall on power lines after the storm as well.
