At last update from cal fire... the potters fire is at 930 acres with 20 percent containment.

Cal fire reps say the fire is not expected to impact any homes or people.

### a controversial needle distribution program is coming to an end.

After a settlement was reached tuesday in a lawsuit between the north valley harm reduction coalition and chico residents and businesses the needle distribution program will end effective immediately.

The n-v-h-r-c put out a statement on their website saying they believe more people will die from overdoes without the program.

But the coalition says it will continue efforts to clean-up needles happening today- the appointment of a new chief of police for the city of chico.

Chico city manager mark orme is set to make the announcement this morning at 10am... outside the main entrance of city hall.

Former chief of police michael o'brien retired in june and the department has since been under the direction of an interim chief, matt madden.

Butte county added 42 new cases tuesday shasta county confirmed 3 new cases tuesday... also happening today-- a man charged with attempted murder is set to return to court.

Butte county deputies say on june 14th... ryan blinston used a knife to try and kill a man.

Blinston was already wanted for burning the car of missing woman... vicky cline.

Deputies say they arrived to find the attempted murder scene.

Investigators later found cline's remains in plumas county.

Blinston has not yet been charged in*tha* case.###
