On The Beat 8/19/20 - Robert's Apothecary

Today on On The Beat, Robert White from Robert's Apothecary tells us all we need to know about immune systems and how to boost them.

Troy thompson: welcome to on the beat, everyone.

I'm troy thompson.

Joining me in the studio today is robert white from robert's apothecary.

And today, we're talking all about compromised immune systems. and now listen, everyone, it is a time that we need to discuss this because part of the covid-19 issue is a low immune system.

Robert white: exactly.

Troy thompson: all right.

I am taking, as i've said to you before, everything i can possibly take to keep my immune system strong.

Robert white: good.

Troy thompson: i think it's super important, right?

Robert white: yeah.

Troy thompson: what are the benefits of having a strong immune system at home?

Robert white: you will much more easily fend off or fight off pathogenic viral or bacterial infections lurking nearby.

Troy thompson: okay.

Now, when we say infections and bacterial infections, what are we seeing?

What are you seeing out there right now?

Robert white: bacterial, right now, strep throat.

Troy thompson: really?

Robert white: yeah.

Troy thompson: and you know, i had that.

Robert white: i heard.

Troy thompson: can you believe it?

Robert white: i can believe it.

Troy thompson: and it was bad.

Robert white: bad.

Troy thompson: i don't know how i got it, and i hit the ground.

And the only thing that they could do for me was penicillin, steroids, and antibiotics.

And i'm a believer in doing these type of things.

Robert white: preventative measure.

Troy thompson: i believe in that, and i don't know how it happened, but it was strong, and it put me on my backside like no tomorrow.

How is it possible that adults get strep throat?

Now we're talking about that.

Robert white: same way children get strep throat.

Troy thompson: really?

Robert white: yeah.

It's just a contagious bacterial pathogen, and it does not discriminate based on age.

Troy thompson: all right.

Let's talk about prescription to begin with.

Robert white: okay.

Troy thompson: what are the prescription precautions that one can take to build their immune system?

Robert white: they're very few prescription drugs designed to boost the immune system.

Troy thompson: right.

Robert white: there is a medical food, colostrum, that is prescription only, but it runs up around $400.

Insurance doesn't pay for it.

Troy thompson: wow.

Robert white: so i have an over the counter version, and it actually is a bovine formula from new zealand.

Your neck of the woods.

Troy thompson: you love bringing up australia and new zealand to me.

Don't you?

Robert white: good countries.

Yeah.

Troy thompson: okay.

I want to talk to you a little bit about what we have in front of us for the natural remedies.

Okay?

Robert white: sure.

Troy thompson: because you and i talk about this all the time, and i love doing the natural remedies.

Vitamin c to begin with.

Robert white: vitamin c, take it every day.

Troy thompson: you just got to take it.

Robert white: just take it.

Troy thompson: okay.

Sometimes people have a problem taking pills.

What do you believe in the chewables?

I don't mind a chewable vitamin c.

Robert white: that's perfectly fine.

Troy thompson: kids like it.

They like the taste of it.

Robert white: yeah.

Troy thompson: but i noticed there was one just recently that i bought.

It felt like it had sugar on the outside.

It was a gummy.

Robert white: it may have had sugar on the outside.

Troy thompson: right.

Robert white: so read the label.

Troy thompson: we need to stay away from that type because it's not great if you're trying to do it the natural way.

Robert white: right.

Troy thompson: let's talk about the second one that we have.

Robert white: vitamin d.

Vitamin d is essential for our immune system.

And even though we're in the deep south and exposed to the sun a lot, the vast majority of people are woefully deficient in vitamin d.

Troy thompson: yeah, i was.

I had blood tests, and they said, "troy, 1000 milligrams a day.

You've got to have it."

And i take it every day, now.

What's the next one?

Zinc is my favorite.

Robert white: zinc boosts the immune system.

It is essential right now.

We have a viral protocol that i'll go over the exact dosage of each of these to people who come in wanting to boost their immune system and stay healthy.

Troy thompson: can you take too many immune- boosting natural remedy?

Robert white: well, you can do too much.

For example, if you take a big dose of zinc, 50 to 100 milligrams for a couple of months, without getting any copper, then your zinc levels get too high, and your copper levels get too low.

Troy thompson: elderberries is my favorite.

Robert white: there you go.

It's good for if one gets an infection, it's going to boost the immune system, kill viruses.

Yeah.

Troy thompson: thank you so much.

We appreciate you.
