Following last minute state aid cuts the Waterville Central School District is re-thinking their reopening plans

On friday, have the school district there rethinking reopening plans for the upcoming school year.

Waterville had already approved an in person model, but financially that option may not be feasible.

With a 20% cut in state aid to local school districts due to the coronavirus the school would suffer a transportation budget shortfall of over 383 thousand dollars if they stay with that model.

At tonight's virtual board of education meeting 5 other options were taken into consideration.

"this is putting tremendous strain on families to figure out how to manage this.

When the kids are going to be in school, when they're going to have daycare, how they're going to get then on and off the bus.

How are they going to drop them off at school.

This is not simple.

The money makes it horrible, even more so than it already was.

We're making choices we don't want to make.

There's no denying that."

Nothing was officially decided by the board this evening however they do plan to take a closer look at option c at another meeting tomorrow.
