Two new two new programs are popping up at the y-m-c-a here in vigo county.

The "alternative care" and "pod" program are designed to help your children continue learning during covid-19.

She explains more about how they'll work.

At 5 o'clock we told you about two new programs the y-m-c-a in vigo county is offering.

You'll hear from the woman who's helping to make these programs possible.

She explains how they work... and how you can get help paying for them.

[take pkg outcue: the future generation duration:1:17] cayce evans says she has a special connection with the ymca... she's program director now..but "my mom was a single mom growing up and she worked several jobs to care for my sister and i.

And she would bring us to the y.

So, it's nice to be able to pass that along."

Nowadays... she's passing along two programs to help students during the pandemic.

They are "alternative program" and the "pod program".

Both will help children with remote learning.... "up until now we didn't have all these programs in place.

So, they're kind of ones that we've had to come up with on the fly, thanks to covid."

Evans says she wants to give families time to focus on themselves...and not worry about e-learning.

She says offering these services to families means a lot to her...and the "y" she serves "so everything we do is revolved around trying to help the community.

And if we're missing a way in helping we try to find a way."

The "pod program" is a hundred and fifty dollars a week.

Staff at the "y" will be with your child from 6 am to 6 pm.

The "alternative program" costs 30 dollars a day.

That program will allow parents to send their kids to the "y" on days they have remot learning.

These are two ways evans is able to bring the help she got as a child to the future generation.

The vigo county y-m-c-a is offering a 50 percent discount to percent is offering a 50 county y-m-c-a the vigo generation.

The vigo county y-m-c-a is offering a 50 percent discount to school corporation and chances for services and youth workers.

The discount also applies to families who are on the free or reduced lunch plan.

Families who have a strong financial need can also apply to these services.
