Right off i-75, authorities direct traffic away from this area of carbondale road blocking off a perimeter as they search for 29-year-old dalton potter wednesday afternoon.

"somewhere after 5 o clock or so a report came in of shots fired.

A person had been shot it's inside gordon county down on cline road.

Just south of the airport.

The gentleman has been airlifted to erlanger.

He is in stable condition thank goodness.

That was our confirmed sighting of our suspect."

Potter was then spotted again in the same area by another person.

"he came north went down the driveway, came in contact with a second neighbor in the area.

They had a little exchange.

The suspect then went to the woods."

A georgia state patrol helipcopter hovers the area as over 100 officers search in a multi-agency effort to locate potter.

"we have plenty of man power at this time and again we're doing everything we possibly can to hopefully bring it to a close."

Several residents had to wait at this gas station to get home while authorities search the area they live.

"are you concerned?"

"i am concerned yeah because my family's over there where he's at.

So yeah, and he's dangerous.

Yeah, i'm concerned.

Potter is accused of crimes in texas and georgia including shooting a whitfield county sheriff's deputy on monday.

Chattanooga police say a stolen car caused a multiple
