County jail.

More than two thousand homes have been destroyed or damaged from the north complex west zone... action news now reporter brandon benitez joins us live with how one berry creek couple is trying to stay positive.... after capturing some frightning video from their doorbell.

Evacuees are unsure what they'll find when they get a chance to return home... in the case of bob and jody bitchin -- they already have everything they need.... bitchin: we've got 40 acres and it's probably all gone because everybody we've talked to has said it's gone, but we're okay.

As long as we're okay, life's okay.

Bob and jody bitchin moved to berry creek a decade ago... they evacuated near midnight last night... bitchin: the only thing we got out with was our two cats, two days worth of clothing, my medicine, she forgot hers in the bathroom.

As we were dirivng down the hill, it didn't matter.

Worried?

Yes.

But they're leaving room in their psyche to stay positive... jody: i believe that whatever happens we are going to be on a new road to whatever that is and we'll be fine with it.

We'll make it out.

You can see video of the fire from one of bob's cameras... footage they never thought they'd see... bitchin: i took out my iphone standing there and i hit the thing and all of a sudden this video came on and it showed a little flame in the corner.

Two minutes later the whole sky was lit up you see the fire coming from the background.

It was just unbelievable i started shaking... for now -- bob and jody can only show me photos of their beautiful home... but they're safe -- and ready to embrace adversity... bob: you have to experience the valleys in life in order to appreciate the hilltops in life and right now losing our home is a valley, but two years from now, we'll be back on a hilltop jody: whatever that hilltop is meeting both of them tonight was a breath of fresh air.
