The push is on to get people to get their flu shot

Rome Hannaford Pharmacy Manager Ashley Bloomquist talks about how important it is for people to get the flu shit this year.

Health officials continue to urgell americansto t the shot early!

News channel two's gary liberatore joins us now live in the studio with more on a local effort.

Gary, good evening.

Good evening.

This is the flu in green...and covid in grayands very concerned that people may end up getting both at the same time.... and that is why there is that huge push on to get the flu shot early.

You can now get the flu shot at many locations.

Today, we talked to the manager of the pharmacy at the new hannaford store in rome.

Ashley bloomquist says she is following c-d-c guidelines...and recommending that everyone six months and older get the flu shot, especially this year because of covid and she says there is already an uptick in the number of people who want to get it this year.

Although flu season doesn't really kick in until the middle of october...it's wise to get the flu shot now...because it usually takes about two weeks for it to kick in...and this year, there is a big push on for people not to get the flu...and covid..at the same time which many feel could be completely disasterus for someone's health.

Tc : 12:25 "i think there was an earlier push this year, i have a peer who works in the albany area and she did 43 shots on friday, the same day the year before she only did four so there's definitely more of a push, there's we're saying a lot here even with new patients coming in we're not super busy yet but we are seeing an uptick in customers coming in just for their flu shots."

The cost of the flu shot all depends on your insurance.

If you do not have insurance...check with your pharmacy to see what it might cost you.
