More Positive Cases In Albertville City Schools

Though there are new cases of coronavirus in the Albertville City School system, the number of cases are declining and superintendent Dr. Boyd English says that's not by chance.

Case of coronavirus among albertville city school students are declining.

Last week the district reported 13 coronavirus case, that was antic crease from six the prior week.

But this week, only two new cases are confirmed in the district with nearly 6,000 students.

>> we are live now from albertville after catching up with the superintendent about what he believes is to thank for the numbers remaining so low.

>> reporter: he says the district has been working on a comprehensive plan for re-opening since schools closed this year.

Today he told me two aspects of the plan, cleaning protocols and preventative measures made a major district for the district.

Plexiglass dividers and mandatory masks and temperature checks each morning have allowed the district to continue with students attending in school.

Less than 1% of the students have tested positive for coronavirus.

A number he is hoping to improve on.

>> as i stated earlier, one is one too many.

But we do feel like we're being -- we are being successful in making sure that the virus does not spread within the school system.

>> reporter: english tells me they review the numbers each day and would consider looking at different options if the numbers move but they are nowhere close to that point at this moment.
