Lightning strike near monroe.

Word of these storms concerned fire crews on the holiday farm fire.

They closed the perimeter of the fire last night and told residents behind the fire lines to stay in their homes.

Kezi 9 news reporter jacob roberts is live at incident command on the holiday farm fire in thurston.

Jacob, how did these storms end up affecting the fire?

The storms were not as bad as anticipated.

Officials said we actually got just the right amount of rain, enough to create moisture and prevent things from catching fire but not too much that it became hazardous for fire crews.

The fire is estimated at 172-thousand acres and ten percent contained.

Officials said the entire fire received some rain, with more falling on the west side than the east.

Of course with thunderstorms also comes lightning.

There no word yet on if lightning was responsible for any hotspots.

There was a 10-acre hotspot yesterday near highway 126 in the fire zone, but the cause is unknown.

The good news is the weather is clearing, and for the first time, helicopters may be able to get into the air today.

Damon simmons/public information officer :11?so that pretty exciting.

Those resources have just been sitting on the ground waiting and i know that they want to get out there and make a difference on this fire.

And what a game changer it can be when those resources are available to u?

Simmons said as soon as the helicopters see a window of opportunity, they will take it.

The fire perimeter had been closed to outside traffic, but because the storm was not as bad as anticipated, it should reopen sooner than originally thought.
