More than 400 students are at home in quarantine due to the Covid-19 virus, and school officials are hoping to keep those numbers from going up any more

Joseph school.by comparison -- that's double what the district reported last week.that's in addition to 43 staff members in quarantine.the good news is that the district has relatively low numbers of positive cases.about 11 staff members and 13 students tested positive for the virus -- the staff number of cases dropped from 18 compared to last week.

Students on the other hand increased by 7 cases.as for why the number of students in quarantine doubled this week -- district officials say they can't put the blame on one event, or one team or one school.and while there's no simple fix -- the superintendent says you can help them keep schools open.

Doug van zyl, sjsd superintent: "stay home, wash your hands, wear your mask that's the biggest thing that helps us because a couple of situations people have had symptoms, whether that was students or adults and they came to school and we had to turn around and send them back home.the superintendent says that by in large everyone is following directions and doing what is asked.the next round of numbers will be released next friday.reporting, madeline mcclain kq2 news.>> according to the
