Tri-state county -- it is no surprise that vanderburgh -- is leading the case count.

But health officials say -- september has brought record reports -- that are hard to ignore.

44news megan diventi breaks down the concern buried in the more than 34-hundred positives.

It's a growing concern--in the tri-state and beyond-- especially as we near the end of september.... "we're looking at maybe the after effects of labor day."

Covid-19 hitting several counties hard--- specifically vanderburgh county---where there are growing case rates -- just in the last week---more than 350- cases added to the list... on tuesday--the county added 62 cases... and on sunday---70--- "this is a pretty significant up tick, but we hope people will get back to protecting themselves and we see some numbers drop like we did the earlier part of the month."

Gries says many of the recent spike in cases could be linked to the recent holidays..... locally---people 20 to 39....and school age children reporting the most cases of covid-19... -- nat pop -- "it's been weird in a sense of supply lines and people being scared to come out."

For david hodge of siciliano subs on franklin street---he's trying to continue business as usual...even amid the recent spike of cases... "i mean it does concern me, people i don't know if they are taking it seriously any longer--all of our customers are really respectful about social distancing and wearing a mask."

At the shop-- hodge says they continue doing their part regardless to help slow the spread.... "we constantly sanitize anytime we have people sitting down.

They get up we sanitize them.

Doorknobs, handles, any touchable surface gets cleaned."
