Libraries and museums are starting to reopen in Monroe County after closing doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Museums are starting to reopen in monroe county after closing their doors due to coronavirus.

Wtvas chelsea brown is live with how the places are dealing with the extra precautions.

Here at the library in amory, customers are taking advantage of the curbside service.

I spoke with a librarian about how things are different now because of the coronavirus.

" we were just busy trying to do things to keep everyone safe" ruby holman says while they were closed employees still worked to make needed changes.

Workers did things like sanitized everything, rearranged furniture so its not used, taped off areas of the library.

Every book someone touches while browsing goes into a book box.

"but anything you touch we quarantine for a whole week" customer can still use the computers but now only by appointment.

The museum across town opened up tuesday and workers say some people have already stopped by... "museum workers are not offering guided tours right now but visitors are welcome to walk around" i spoke with museum worker, sarah crump and she says the gift shop is open and workers regularly clean the counters and doors at the museum.

Both crump and holman say they are happy to get customers and visitors back to the library and museum.

"it's totally different, it's a come a go type thing" crump says the museum does not have any special displays or art galleries planned.

"to be safe it's our life right now, nobody can control it it's controlling us right now" the library is still offering curbside for anyone renting books, needing papers copied or anything faxed.
