Two and a half months later the Red Salmon Complex continues to burn

The Red Salmon Complex which is burning in parts of Siskiyou County, has burned more than 140,000 acres over two and a half months, and is now 62% contained.

Complex along the southwest edge of siskiyou county has burned around 142-thousand acres and is 62-percent contained.

Fire crews have been working on this fire since july 27th, when lightning started fires across southern oregon and northern california.

The public information officer says that the reason this fire has been burning for more than two months is because crews were not able to get ahead of the flames early -- and difficult terrain only made conditions worse.

They explained to me how trecherous the countside is up there.

Lots of down windy debris, logs and you just cannot move through that countyside in any sort of speedy fashion.

To try and put a fire trial around the fire, and given the conditions out there they just knew they were going to have their hands full.

There is another red flag warning going into effect in the area of the complex.
