The castle boys soccer team won a state title was in the year 2000.

Fast forward two decades..

And the knights find themselves again playing for state glory.

The boys in newburgh tell andrew garcia they would love nothing more than to end that championship drought.

When castle defeated franklin central at semi-state, the knights clinched their first appearance at state since 2017.

It felt great.

When we were freshman we made it and lost and having our last chance being able to play the last week of the season it feels amazing but, we're focused and the job is not finished.

It's redemption for the seniors i wasn't here yet whenever they went to state.

So i was happy that we could get back for them.

After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the semi-state game, castle saw its lead ut in half forcing them to tighten up defensively before a late goal iced it.

He stoltz has the ability to really impact games from the keeper position and for him to add that confidence at the end, because they were putting a lot of pressure on naturaly.

Their season is on the line so they're going to throw everything at us.

But i think coming off his line, getting balls in the air, making reaction saves was big, but it's always great to have him back there as kind of a security blanket for us.

Mitchell- 2-0 is a very dangerous lead in soccer because with one goal, it's a 2-1 game.

They can tie it up at any minute.

So, whenever they score that second goal we knew we had to get compact.

All that stands in the knights way of state glory now is the chesterton trojans, and castle's strategy is to keep things simple.

Stoltz- we went over them in the locker room, and they're a great team in the state finals and we're just going to keep sticking to what we've done all year and keep following our game plan.

Mitchell- they can play so, we just want to come out and perform to the best of our ability and hope we can come out on top.
