Strict adherence to the state's COVID-19 guidelines that has some families concerned after their children experienced a freezing, wet ride home inside a school bus.

Was a long ride home in the elementsfor the students on this bus recordingwith their cell phones as snow flies inthrough the windows.

It was cold, and Ionly had this on and a sweater, thisseventh grader says.

The 25 minute ridehome from Silver Lake Regional MiddleSchool was pretty uncomfortable.

Shecouldn't find a dry seat anywhere.

Theywere all getting wet, and when I walkedon, they had snow on them.

The buswindows were still down about two orthree inches and the snow in the ringwhere it's coming in, and they werefreezing when they got home.

Afterwatching the video, that girl's mothercalled the transportation company, andthey told me that there was nothingthat could be done.

The windows had tostay open.

Guidance from the state doesgive drivers some discretion, advisingthat they keep the windows open at alltimes during operation, unless notpossible due to extreme weatherconditions.

Even in cold or rainyweather, bus window should be kept openat least partially a couple of inchesif possible.

It's too cold, too, tohave them be that cold.

In that way,for the ride home.

This mother arguesthat Friday's weather was extreme, andnow she worries about the loomingwinter bus rides is the weather getseven coldernow?

The state tonight did notelaborate on its definition of extremeweather, and we did not hear back fromthe school district or thetransportation company tonight.
