Rockefeller Christmas tree could be coming from Oneonta

Tree to place in the famous rockefeller center plaza.

And locals are telling us they chose a very special tree in otsego county.

Intro: everyone is trying to keep this under the radar.

The tree stands just about a hundred feet tall.

And neighbors are telling me that it's been a very busy few days as crews prepared the tree for its final destination.

"rockefeller center huh" its probably the biggest and tallest secret in west oneonta, rumor has it, this tree standing almost 100 feet tall will be the next christmas tree to stand in rockefeller center.

Lance thomas lives across the street and says its been a busy couple of days.

None lance says: "everything has kind of been a big secret.

I don't know when its finally going to come down but they've been doing alot of hard work to prepare for this."

I did try to speak to the owner, but he says he's sworn to secrecy.

The news has quickly spread across social media.

Passerbys from all across the area stopping to take pictures "we saw this on facebook actually.

Myself and my husband went to rockefeller center last year.

We were hoping that they hadn't taken it just yet and it looks like they're getting it ready to go."

The tree has been placed under 24 hour watch to make sure no one tries to vandalize it.

Andrea says: "i think its important that the event is kept secret.

It is for protecting the tree.

I think its important that it's well guarded."

"if you just look around and there's alot of them that could have been chosen and it's just very special that it happens to be right across the street from me here.
