Staggered Schedule
District to switch to staggered schedule.

The department of health updates it today.

For some huntsville city schools students - this is one of the last days of a full-time traditional learning.

Last night - the district announced its plans to return to staggered schedule after thanksgiving break.

Waay31s sierra phillips is live at the district's central office with what led up to the decision.

The superintendent said they made the change because of rising coronavirus cases and staffing considerations.

Right now - the district already has 5 schools learning remotely because of coronavirus.

Only high schoolers will make the switch after the holiday - but superintendent christie finley says they're working with health officials to decide if other schools need to switch.

For now - she says they'll continue to make decisions on a school-by-school basis.

Finley said that generally schools with no or a small number will work in person, 5 days a week.

She added that they appreciate parents flexibility and are focusing on the health and safety of students reporting live in huntsville sierra phillips waay31 news.
