Certain boxes around campus will be back on as soon as nearby construction is done.

These devices have been around since the 70's.

However, they'veeen a few updates in the last seven years.

These included making the posts taller and adding a blue light.

Purdue police chief, john cox, says there are plans for more updates.

Along with two guys who manage our camera systems for the campus wide digital video system, they're in the process of getting ready to install the first camera on top of one of those poles.

Cox says it'll help monitor high pedestrian areas on campus.

This installation will take place next week.
