Virtual Dr. visits are becoming more popular at IU Health Arnett.

Year iu health has done 27 thousand five hundred virtual appointments.

When the pandemic started in person visits weren't possible.

Over the summer hospitals began to open back up and less people were being seen virtually.

With the second wave of the pandemic now putting a strain on hospitals across the state virtual appointments have seen another up tick.

Dr. tamara hazbun a family physician at iu health arnett says that doctors are able to treat almost any kind of issue through a virtual appointment.

"the video appointment is a great opportunity for the doctor to determine how sick a patient really is.

Is the patient really really sick and they need to go to the emergency department or are they just moderately ill and we can manage them as an outpatient."

Dr. hazbun says virtual appointments are most important for people with pre- existing conditions so they stay on top of their medical issues..

In turn keeping more people out of the hospital.
