There's an investigation underway at this hour into "a fire" at an apartment complex in terre haute.

"the fire" forced several people to leave.

It happened "at the harrison apartments".

"that complex" is at 25-15 south 25th street on terre haute's south side.

News 10's "dominic miranda" spoke with terre haute fire chief "jeff fisher".

He explains..

"what happened".

//////// domini} the call came in to the terre haute fire department around 4:30 am early sunday morning.

Crews responded to a structure fire here behind me at the harrison apartment complex here in terre haute.

Terre haute fire chief jeff fisher told me crews arrived to find the complex up in smoke and flames.

Several people in the apartment evacuated.... but there were still 2 people in the upstairs apartments portion.

Firefighters went in and helped them out safely.

Chief fisher says 4 apartments received significant damage.... in total 10 apartments had some kind of water or fire damage.

12 people had to be relocated.

The red cross helped put them up in apartments or hotels.

Chief fisher says he's proud of the way the firefighters responded.

"crews did a fantastic job.

No injuries-we are thankful for that- to civilians or fire fighters.

It was a good working fire.

The guys and girls got there quickly, got it put out, and everybody went home."

Domini} chief fisher says the fire took about an hour to extinguish.... the cause of the fire is still under investigation.... but chief fisher says it is suspicious..
