Madison County Schools makes changes to fan policy for winter sports

Starting now... all extracurricular activities in the madison county school system have a new capacity limit due to covid-19.

It went from 50-percent down to just 20-percent due to the rising number of cases in the county and in the school system.

Waay-31s alexis scott talked with school leaders about the changes you'll see aimed at slowing the spread of covid 19.

When you come inside you can still sit with family and friends with a mask on of course...but you will see the numbers are decreased and that's to help with social distancing and to limit the amount of people inside.

And once inside... it'll still be reinforced to use hand sanitzer as well.

The madison county school system is taking a step back when it comes to the amount of people attending winter sporting events as well as concerts and plays.

Attendance numbers will vary by school.

Depending on the schools... the actual number of those who can attend will vary.

When you walk in the games... you still will be asked to have your temperature checked... and to keep your mask on for the entire game.

The county's athletic administrator told me he wants to let parents know this is an effort to keep everyone safe.

Lavell everett, athletic administrator "the numbers in madison county...our risk factor has definitely gone up, so we're wanting to definitely keep our kids and our faculty and our parents and all visitors safe within the confines of our indoor athletic sports right now," right now... the 20-percent cap will be in place until further notice.
