Robert Tomey made the decision to close the lobbies of his restaurants in an effort to protect employees from the virus.

Wtva's chelsea brown was in amory with how one local business is dealing with the states higher case numbers.

Here in amory at the mcdonalds, franchise owner robert tomey closed the lobby again.

I spoke with him about his decision to close.

"it just knocked me to the ground, and i pray no one else gets it."

Robert tomey owns eight mcdonalds around the area.

He told me a few weeks ago he tested positive for coronavirus.

With his case and the holidays coming up he closed all of his locations lobbies.

"we anticipated an uptick, hospitals are full, i did it for the sake of my employees."

The drive thru is still open.

He is trying to keep his employees safe as more people go to family gatherings for the holidays.

Lobbies at other fast food reasturants around the mcdonalds are keeping their lobbies open despite increase in cases.

"families get together you have unnecessary events to go to."

Tag: tomey is hoping to reopen the lobbies on january 5th.

He is also asking for everyone to continue wearing their masks when they go out.
