Organization in Aberdeen provides coats for kids

A group of leaders in Aberdeen donated their time and coats to kids in need.

An aberdeen organization is giving away free coats to kids in the area.

Wayne hereford talked to group leaders today about why they say they want to help the kids right now.

Standup.."i'm inside aberdeen city hall here and a group known as coats for kids is collecting coats here that will go to some needy children here in the city of aberdeen."

Harrison assembly of gods) "so for about three years its been in my heart.

As we were doing those boxes , my heart , lets do something for the city and for about three years now its been about coats.

But its god's timing and its god's plan."

The plan, she says is to collect coats from various locations in monroe county.

Each coat is then cleaned and then given away to a needy child.

The pastor says the coats are needed especially during a pandemic.

"what greater time than right now for this to happen..

And i believe its going to be a great success."

Lane conner is a local businessman who is collecting coats at his business.

(lane conner, buxton music central manager) "you know we are trying to reach out to all people in aberdeen and if we see someone who needs help and don't help; them, how dwell the love of god in us."

Natsoundbreak.."and we are headed to the cleaners" they load up the coats and take them to a local cleaners in aberdeen.

The cleaners owner says she does the work free of charge.

(laura baty-hometown cleaners owner) "we don't mind anybody that's doing this no matter what church it is organization.

Just call us and let us know and we'll be happy to clean them up."

They will continue collecting coats until january fourth.

That's when they will hand them
