Sherman has the night off.

Our coverage begins in limestone county - with an investigation into an early morning deadly house fire in athens.

The fire happened around 4 this morning on lawson street off forrest street.

Waay31's sierra phillips was the first reporter there this morning as fire crews worked the scene.

Right now here on lawson street you can see the yellow tape blocking off what is left of this home.

Take a look at the severe fire and smoke damage.

Just a partial roof and some brick walls are left standing.

You can see right inside the home through were the windows shattered and part of the wall fell.

A nearby neighbor told me she saw fire crews as they worked to put this fire out.

Just across the street-- another neighbor told me he was the one to call 9-1-1 after the he was woken up by the smell of smoke around 4 this morning.

Officials say they don't believe the fire was intentional.

A body was found inside the home.
