Man arrested after Thurston standoff

Police arrested Randy Corbett, 32, following a report of an assault.

Now to springfield... and that tense standoff that terrorized a neighborhood for over 6 hours today.

Police have 32 year old randy corbett in custody tonight after holding a woman hostage in a thurston home.

Kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome was there this morning and joins us live with the latest cyhnna - dozens of cop, fire, and swat vehicles were here on s 58th street this morning trying to get corbett out of this home here on the corner and more importantly get the woman he was holding hostage inside safely out.

The call came in this morning to authorities at around 7 am as a domestic violence call when police showed up - they say they were able to make contact with corbett, but it didn't last they simply waited him out - using their negotiation team about 5 hours in they were able to get the woman he was holding hostage out and after one pm they were finally able to get corbett out lt george crolly 2:10 the residents of the neighborhood were not ever at risk of injury or in danger at any time - almost right off the bat we had the residence surrounded so if anything happened we were able to contain the situation to just that house" crolly says part of the reason the response was so big was from reports of the man having weapons in his house.

The entire street was blocked off this morning until police vehicles left at about one this afternoon.
