Golden Apple Award - Soddy Daisy Elementary's Sarah Leeseburg

Soddy Daisy Elementary's Sarah Leeseburg wins our Golden Apple Award this week for going the extra mile in caring for her kids.

Conditions.

When you add a virtual element, the degree of difficulty can be staggering.

Sarah leeseberg met that challenge and more.

That's why the soddy elementary school teacher earned this week's... golden apple award.

Natural sound: miss leeseberg, on behalf of food city in news 12 at like to present you with this weeks golden apple teacher award.

Meaghan: sarah leeseberg she is one of our first grade teachers.

She just pours her heart and soul into her kids.

Natural sound: there are certain kind of feathers that are especially made to warm up a blanket.

What type of feathers are they.

Warm body feathers?

They are warm body feathers.

Megan: she is on the phone all hours.

She will tell me that she was texting with a parent at 10 o'clock trying to figure out what they need to do for math.

Or what they need to do for breakfast in the morning.

Or she will call and say, " hey i had a parent run out of hot water so i am going to run by there and grab their clothes so i can wash them for them".

Or... i mean she's just... she is goes above and beyond for her kids both in and out of the classroom.

Sarah: ooooh!!!

I am a mom, and a teacher, and a runner, and i really just like to get out among my community and hang out with kids and spend time with kids.

And try to make a difference.

I've always really been able to connect with kids really well.

And everyone always told me that i should be a teacher.

I didn't know that was my calling until i was a little bit older.

But i think that it takes certain type of personality to really connect with kids.

And like i say it once you make that connection that's when they are willing to take risk and they can just do so much more.

I don't want to solve their issues but i want to help guide them and give them words so that they can talk to their friends.

Especially if there is a misunderstandin g or something they can talk that out and problem solve on their own.

Because they can take that scale into their future no matter what job they are in or what environment they are in.

Its going to help them.

And it will also help them through the education process.
